Maureen Morrison: Director
Studied ’cello at the Royal College of Music. She subsequently played for many years with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra as well as teaching ’cello in Edinburgh schools.

Virginia Johnston: Manager
Graduated with an Honours degree in Music and English from Glasgow University. Her main instrument is violin and she plays in several Edinburgh orchestras.

Robin McHugh: Luthier
Was apprentice to Derek Sanderson in Alva. He subsequently became a Senior Lecturer in Stringed Instrument Technology. Robin has been resident luthier at Stringers since 1992.

Russel Redpath: Luthier
Is a former student of Robin McHugh. Apart from his work as luthier in our Educational Department, Russel also plays violin and guitar.

Paul Bowers: Consultant
Is one of Britain’s finest violin makers and restorers. After graduating with distinction from the Newark School of Violin Making he worked for W.E. Hill & Son. More recently he has worked as lecturer, maker and restorer.

Is a maker and restorer of fine bows. He worked for many years at Ealing Strings in London before moving north in 1987.
